    The Incredible Hulk

Just came back from the midnight screening of The Incredible Hulk. Honestly I expected more..

    Note : Minor spoilers ahead

    • Liv Tyler couldn’t act for nuts (stoned monotone voice, with catatonic face + fake tears throughout), and Tim Roth was a bad bad choice as The Abomination (he looked more like a druggie than an experienced super soldier) not to mention the cheap overacting (Dr. Samuel Stern anyone?).
    • There were too many campy attempts at humour – “She never talked about her father, now I know why..” “Where does she find her guys?” or that stupid Taxi scene? ArrrRGH.. this was The Incredible Cringe for me!
    • I’ve HAD IT with all the ROARING with MOUTH OPEN scenes in every single Hollywood movie that has ‘monsters’ in them. ‘I Am Legend’ was the last straw for me.. is all the shouting really supposed to be scary? BadGuys (or in this case GoodGuy) who need to vent by screaming at their enemies.. well.. are just like big babies IMHO..
    • The direction by Louis Leterrier was all over the place! One moment you have a really badly done ‘King Kong copycat’ emo scene, and then the next, he wanted to be JJ Abrams and started shaking the camera via first person perspective ala Cloverfield. Is there simply no originality or consistency left?
    • Action scenes seemed pretty hollow. I’m not saying they were bad, – just that I didn’t feel much gratification whenever the Hulk started dishing out some hurt. The ending was even worse – how exactly did the Hulk defeat his arch-nemesis again??? Sooo uninspired & illogical!

    Saving graces?

    • Edward Norton. Although too skinny and didn’t look much like the VFX Hulk but still… Liv Tyler too. although her acting was lousy, but still (those lips, skin, rack)… :P
    • They finally addressed the pants dilemma.
    • The ‘Hulk Only’ Beatdown! Moves – Hulk Smash! or the sonic clap thingie.. *cheering inwards*..
    • Tony Stark! Great idea to tie the movie in with Iron Man, and the upcoming Captain America and Avengers movie. Lends an epic feel to the entire franchise – finally, everything’s connected!

Don’t stay till after the credits. There’s nothing to catch.
Overall, the cons outweighed the pros. I’d give this at most 6/10.
