Just a quick condensing of my overdue January memories in one post.
All of the photos below (except for the Cinderella plugs) were actually taken with my iPhone :D

    Pre-Chinese New Year

Although I was planning to go back to KL to celebrate CNY with my family, I couldn’t help making a visit to Chinatown’s infamous pre-CNY stalls to browse their goods.

Now space is kinda precious in Singapore, and it isn’t easy getting permits to open up stalls in public areas despite the festive occasion. Chinatown is the ‘delegated spot’ for all the pre-CNY good importers to come hawk their wares – and is also the place where the whole of Singapore descend upon in a mad rush to purchase CNY goodies.

I’ve heard horror stories of immovable human crowds during the eve of CNY as hawkers slash prices to clear off their remaining stock. Thankfully, I managed to avoid that by going a few nights before. Even then, I was amazed to see the sheer bulk amount of stuff available for purchase..

    Cinderella Musical with Lea Salonga

Thanks to Airin for the invite to my first ever theater experience at the Singapore Esplanade for a Cinderella Musical featuring Lea Salonga as the lead. :)

Impressions? A comedic remake targeted for family audiences which managed to get me laughing at a few scenes. The set by Tony Award winner David Gallo was simply magical, with great music from Broadway composers Rodgers & Hammerstein. Lea Salonga was beautiful as Cinderella (she was shorter than I expected!) although the prince played by Peter Saide wasn’t quite up to her enchanting standards. :P

    Back to KL for CNY!

Didn’t take much photos with the family this time around as it was a pretty subdued event. We didn’t head back to Terengganu, and had massive dinners over at each of our houses instead. I didn’t take my camera out once..

Also had a short housewarming at Terence’s new place in Taman Mayang, before heading off for a Korean BBQ Dinner at this new place called NZX (Niu Ze Xue) at Ara Damansara. Quite a funky place with little stalls selling all sorts of handmade figurines and toys, including a mini Disney theme park too!

In some strange way, my memories of Li Tsing was most distinct during this trip back, cause she was stuck in a little unhappy place at that time. I wished I could have done more, and hope things are turning out better for her now…

While on the way back to Singapore at the end of the week long break, I got another CVS attack again, and required both Jeane, 4th uncle and Aunt Amy’s help over here to drive me to Alexandra hospital. I must have given all of them a scare… It was quite a bad end to a good month. :(

Writing this 4 month old overdue blog post made me realized that I’ve actually missed out on a lot of things by not having used my camera more often. Can you imagine that I didn’t even take a single Chinese New Year photo! Let alone all the little details for each single moment, now forever lost in time. I vow never to let my blog slack like this ever again!
