165 movies watched in 2008. I expected at least 200+! Oh well, I guess I’ve been busy with other things.. 
My Top 5 Movie Picks for 2008 goes to :
1. The Dark Knight
Downright THE BEST noir character piece, comic adaptation, action, fantasy, sci fi all in one – featuring both my favorite director and actor. I won’t be surprised if this sweeps up the coming Oscars.
2. The Orphanage
Best horror for 2008 (with 1408 coming quite close). Some truly scary moments here, with an ending that will leave you both distraught and frozen..
3. Wall-E
Another marvelous Pixar masterpiece. This time, the adorable lead doesn’t even need to talk! Who doesn’t want a Wall-E? Nuff said.
4. Cloverfield
The most original take on any monster movie I’ve seen. That, and the fact that watching this in the cinema was so immersive, I felt every moment of shock, awe and terror. *No I did NOT get headaches.
5. Once
A beautiful honest original independent musical drama unsurpassed by none. It’s so down to earth, so ordinary, anyone could easily relate to the two characters falling in love at the wrong time..
Honorable Mention:
The Man From Earth
Independent low budget filmmaking yet showcases how a superior script can bring a story to life. Extremely riveting and thought provoking – sci fi storytelling at its finest. The moviemakers even encouraged viewers to share this film on torrent sites. Heck the producer actually left a comment on my blog after I wrote a review on it!

Haha, movies are the best way for anyone to momentarily escape real life.. for around 2 hours anyway.
They keep me sane.
