Ah finally some time to sit down and do up a proper posting of my adventures over in the land down under.

We arrived just as the sun was rising over the horizon..

See the small little yachts down there?

I remember reading about Sydney planning to build a new airport. Honestly they SHOULD. Strict customs regulations aside, they were definitely NOT equipped to handle the influx of people into their city. We were stuck in a crazy queue that lasted THREE bloody hours just to get through customs.
Went for a walk around the city after resting for a bit at Yi-aun’s place - which was located at the MOST convenient location possible - smack in the middle of the city right next to Hyde Park.
First impressions? The weather was fantastic - right about until the wind blasts you and makes you think again. The city was really clean too. It’s also a massive mixing pot of cultures - and I really did not expect to see that many Asians dominating the streets. The large variations in dress styles and races must have also contributed to me admiring the many beautiful people there..

Inside the historic QVB, trying to take a picture of the nice dome roof.

There are apparently lot of street artists and performers like this around Sydney - but I only managed to catch this one that evening..

A clash of historic and modern architecture. Even the oldest of buildings in Sydney were very well maintained and were a joy to behold.

Back at Yi-Aun’s cozy apartment, cooked dinner, and chilled. Besides watching TV, Settlers of Catan became our favorite past time.

Met up with Jay and Winnie the next day.. This was their rented car’s number plate - UPT 467 - how fitting!
We walked around a bit, then headed to Darling Harbour..

What I found really pleasing was how the birds and wildlife there were completely unafraid of humans - not unlike our monyets. I loved their seagulls - probably because about the only birds I see back in KL are crows.

Just so you know, I’m not the most venomous snake in the world (some of you probably beg to differ). It’s the Inland Taipan - a native Australian snake. One bite from that nasty thing contains enough venom to kill 200 adult humans.

Australia’s most emo girl, emo-ing at Australia’s largest lizard.

What trip would be complete without at least seeing a koala? Caught them at a wrong time though - they were all asleep..
Went for some Sydney karaoke, and had dinner at a Korean BBQ restaurant.
Sydney’s ‘ugly’ side began to show when we took a late night walk to Circular Quay. A car pulled up while we were walking, and a white woman waving green glowsticks yelled “slit/split something something” at us (in a non friendly tone) and sped off. Racism? It was the weekend, and most of the Sydneysiders were out drinking. They get really rowdy and agressive when drunk, and I’ve been told that its best practice to stay away.

These 2 girls can REALLY walk.

The temperature at that hour was crazyy cold, but we walked all the way to the Opera House anyway..

Here’s the view from the steps of the Opera House..
The next day, I headed out to the city again with Jacq and Yi-Aun.

This was the Museum railway station - designed like an old London tube with cream tiling and old school posters.

We went to The Rocks for the street market there, and back to Circular Quay again. Watched a street performer do various stunts with his bike and juggling skills - including juggling a chainsaw.. Went home, rested a bit, and out we went again - this time to Star City for the casino there. I lost about $50 on the roulette table :P, then spent the next 3 hours debating with Jacq at the casino lounge about the world, evolution, psychology, and everything
Made a decision to follow Jay & Winnie down to Bathurst (200km west of Sydney) the next day. All about that in the next entry!
