My first of many overdue posts for last week.. I was itching to go for a gig as it’s been awhile since the last one. So I decided on Moonshine. Well, the crowd, performers and atmosphere all had a subdued tone about it as Ramadan had just started. But I still enjoyed myself nonetheless..
The LineUp & Music..

First up was Tan Sei Hon, and he was pretty decent with his folksy tunes. Quite energetic too despite playing a solo acoustic set.. Couldn’t catch a lot of his lyrics though..

Rendra on the left, and Alda on the right
Next was Rendra Zawawi - which was quite okay despite it being my first time hearing him in action (I missed him playing at Equatorial for Mia’s Bedroom Musician series). I have a very strong feeling he would be much more in his element doing his solo stuff. He had a pretty powerful voice, and sang a number of the more memorable songs that night. Jimmy from Tempered Mental and Alda Tan was sessioning for the drums and bass respectively..

L-R: Hanafi, Izuan & Izzat
3rd band of the night was Auburn! Headed by Izuan Shah - a former high school mate of mine, it’s been years since I’ve last heard them play, and boy have they improved since. They cranked the volumes up a notch with their alternative rock.

Furniture doing their thing..
The final band of the night was no other than Furniture - the experimental (emotronic?) band thats heavy on the instruments and light on the vocals. It’s truly one of the more unique bands around, sticking true to their genre, and playing a strangely uplifting blend of technical guitar riffs, drums, bass, synthesizer and incorporating even a xylophone. I bought their album from Ronnie that night, and well, it really blew me away.
Remind me though not to get seats so near the speakers next time - my eardrums were kinda numb after the show..
The Company..
A surprising night filled with many encounters..
Immi brought her ex schoolmate pals + Hong, while I came with Sandra, met Winnie, bumped into Ash, Yuri & Siva. Of course not counting getting to meet Reza, Alda, Ronnie & Izuan again. Met Melvin, and got introduced to Ina Fabregas, + a some dudes and dudettes who’s names I cannot remember now..

4 Gorgeous Ladies

Winnie decided to drop by…

These are the 2 nicest girls in the world.. I’m not kidding
Glad you enjoyed yourself Sandiee..

ahem!

Ok I agree with you Immi, lots of hot girls from Taman Sea..

Post gig posers. Please don’t ask me what I was trying to do.
A bunch of us went on to club at Sanctuary upstairs after the gig, until the the lights came on at about 2am. Immi was pretty much flustered with alcohol after, so we decided to head down to Devi’s in Taman Tun for a late night supper, which lasted until 4am. Yes we had work the next day, and yes we were insane - but at least Immi finally sobered up enough to drive back.
