Headed down to Midvalley GSC after work with Airin to watch Rush Hour 3. There was a huuugeee bunch of us - besides Jacq, Andrew, Woon Wai, Caroline, Angeline, & Anthony, Elaine brought along 3 more cousins to make a grand total of 12 people.
Rush Hour 3 (2007)

I went in with a little too much expectation I guess. Or maybe the Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker formula was getting old. Rush Hour 1 was fantastic, Rush Hour 2 dropped a notch, this one hit the belt. Admittedly, some scenes were exciting, and some scenes were hilarious but it didn’t feel ‘whole‘ to me. There were some massive plot holes, while Jackie & Chris didn’t really gel together like they once did. When ANY movie decides to blow off continuity, storyline logic and character development for the sake of blind entertainment, pacing and flow - it insults my intelligence (do all directors think that moviegoers are stupid?).
I still had fun nevertheless, and I’m sure most people did too including the cast and crew. If you do decide to watch this - please don’t expect anything spectacular, and you might walk out more satisfied than I did. ![]()
As for the day before…
The Big Lebowski (1998)

I finally got a bit of time to sit back and relax with one of my overflowing unwatched DVDs.. ‘Randomly’ decided on The Big Lebowski..
I thought the movie was pretty good.. It was very Quentin Tarantino-ish especially in regards to its use of extensively long dialogues and outlandish personalities to flesh out certain characters. And boy did it FLESH out those characters indeed. Jeff Bridges play The Dude - an unemployed decent laidback chap who happens to share the same name with a bigshot (Jeff Lebowski). The story is a little complex to tell here but let’s just say that after meeting his samenamesake, The Dude gets thrown into a progressively bad and improbable situation - no thanks partly of course to his good buddy Walter (John Goodman) - a slightly disfunctional war veteran with a short fuse.
The show is so well shot, scripted, directed and acted that every character during their screen time (no matter how small the role they play) stands out in your memory. Did I remember to add that the acting was crazily superb? It’s a pretty unique formula for a comedy - put a normal carefree logical guy, smack right in the middle of absurd friends, insane world, and freaks - and see how he saves himself from it all. Sure made me laugh out loud more than a few times in my hall as I was watching it, and it definitely makes this movie one to remember. ![]()
At the time of this posting, The Big Lebowski is currently rated as #172 on IMDB’s Top 250 movies of all time with a score of 8.1/10 (92,556 votes)
Okay, here’s one of the more memorable scenes from the movie - introducing Jesus - the Dude’s new bowling arch enemy..
“Nobody Fucks With The Jesus..”
I laughed like an idiot every time poor Donny (the guy that noone listens to) gets shot down with a.. “Shut the Fuck Up Donny!”
The bowling ball licking scene was a CLASSIC - you can find pictures of it everywhere. And Jesus was only a minor character making only 2 appearances in the movie (this was 1 of them).
And guys, feel free to join the slowest growing religion in the world..
