Wee.. Finally attended a rave again - it’s been a long while since the last one. How could I miss Malaysia’s largest rave ever? Recharge Revelation5 - touting 40 Acts, half a million square feet of land, 6 Arenas, in conjunction with the Global Gathering dance phenomenon around the world (and Visit Malaysia Year 2007)- well it pretty much delivered.. ![]()
Also, the expected crowd of 30,000 revelers would have generated RM1.9 million in ticket sales alone (based on PRESALE tickets only) and this isn’t counting all the extra revenue from sales of drinks, food, merchandise, rides & sponsorship. *jaw drops*
ALMOST everything was PERFECT. Ample space, good DJs and artists, amazing lighting displays, plenty of fireworks, the best rave food canteen I’ve ever seen (they even had Burger King), responsible security, first aid, crowd control at entrances + exits, smooth ticketing. The only gripe I had was the MUD and the STINK (of probably horse manure). Oh well.. too bad for those who wore sandals or heels, and for those that are there to be pretentious. A little dirt won’t stop serious party-goers from having fun.
Oh well enough talk, here are some photos hehe..

Global Arena - The 1st of the 2 largest arenas there.. Holding capacity - 10,000. Party was already well underway when I arrived at 9pm.
The Swing
There were some CRAZY ASS thrill rides at the Gravity Zone. They relocated the entire ‘Reverse Bungee’ GForce-X Ride based at the KL Tower just for this event. Huge construction cranes with elaborate wires were set up for a near death defying human swing ride (watch video above). Bungee jumping was also provided too at RM200 per leap (didn’t see anyone do this though).
Next to this was the Freedom Amp Arena where they combined the elements of BMX biking, skateboarding and rollerblading playgrounds with the dance floor. I was enjoying the music here (fusion of electro cover dance and rock tunes) when I saw a BMX biker pull a stunt leap right across the front between the dancers and the DJ. It was pretty cool..

This hall was custom built to hold 5,000 revelers and was fully air-conditioned. They had primarily Hip Hop & Break live performances here, which wasn’t exactly my cup of tea, so I didn’t linger for long..

And then the field opens up to the other mega arena - Godskitchen. I spent most of my time here..

It’s not a cool mist spray. It’s odourless. Some form of gas, I have no idea what.. Oxygen perhaps?

The Foam Bar rocks! Check out the video of me being FLOODED with bubbles (please endure the few seconds of momentary blindness as my camera and me get engulfed in suds..)

Ash ‘Stoned & High’ Nair & FoOie

Nic ‘Hardcore Raver’ Fong & Me

I eventually gave up finding anyone to do this with me, so I decided to give it a go myself. A member of the crew had to ride with me in order to keep the sphere weight balanced. Then they shot me 65 meters up into the sky at 120kph in under 2 seconds. I got spun around for a bit before my gradual descent. They say I would have experienced 5Gs of force + momentary weightlessness up there - but all I felt was exhilaration. It was over way toooo soon! and at RM50 per person, this ride ain’t exactly cheap either.

Loved the lighting effects on the stages..
A short video of Johan Gielen spinning at Godskitchen. And a taste of what the entire thing was about if you didn’t go…

Me & my 2 groupies
:P Immi wasn’t feeling well though, and missed a substantial part of the rave resting in my car..

Did I mention that I loved the lighting?

And the collateral damage to my shoes and pants.
Headed over to Bungalow 1059 to find Ash, Murat, Rahul & friends. Then drove home at 430.
I’m getting too old for this I swear. But still.. if anyone wanna go with me for the next one, just holler..
