Went jogging with Airin at the Taman Tun Park after work on Thursday (I didn’t really jog lar.. just walked around actually)
.
It’s been almost a year since the last time I was there, and I’ve forgotten what a nice place it was to go for a light exercise.
The monkeys (or macaques) are a lot more ‘friendlier’ now - they are all literally hanging right at the playground and jogging paths instead of only on the hiking trails like they used to. There were also pigeons, huge carps and catfishes, turtles.. it’s a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life - and it’s just a stone’s throw away from home..

Now I’ve seen monkeys do MANY crazy things. Here are a few examples..
- At Taman Petaling, I saw a bunch of them invade a large dumpster and started emptying it by throwing garbage out all over the place. Pity the poor sod who would have had to clean up the crazy mess..
- At Batu Caves, this monkey snatched my friend’s bottle of 100 Plus, ran a few feet away, skillfully opened the cap (you could hear the hiss of gas escaping), and began drinking from it like a normal human would. We were all stunned. Would have made a great TV ad don’t you think?
- At the Mont Kiara jogging trail with Airin, when an Alpha male monkey suddenly decided to ‘attack us’ (or was it chase Airin). Some million year old evolutionary instinct kicked in, and I exerted MY Alpha male rights by doing the same thing the monkey did - I chased back (while making some sounds that I don’t quite remember). Taught that upstart a lesson for messing with me. Muahaha..
Today however I saw something new.
There was this monkey who was happily licking an ice cream stick (generously handed to him by some kids) - he didn’t stick the whole stick in his mouth, he just went *lick lick lick* switch sides, *lick lick lick* - it was fascinating to watch.
But that wasn’t it. After he was done with the ice cream.. he suddenly ran and mounted this other she-monkey and began banging her! But before I could whip my camera up, he got off. Man, talk about a QUICKIE. She didn’t even see it coming, didn’t even have time to react. He only needed about 5 seconds.

Respect siall. Now if only I could learn to do something like that…
But then again, maybe not.. having such a libido will just mean creating way more offspring than anyone could handle. Which might lead to this:
- New Straits Times - Possible Open Season on Monkeys?
- International Herald Tribune - Malaysia says OK to export macaque monkeys for meat..
You might be wondering why my obsession with the monyets.. Well, I sort of have a ‘bond’ with them considering I’m born in the year of the Monkey.
So people, please DON’T EAT MY KIN!
